Congratulations to Gyula (Jules) Cseszko, the newly appointed Principal Conductor for the BSO.
Mr Csesko’s career highlights include appointments with the Melbourne University Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne University Biomedical Orchestra, Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Lawyer’s Orchestra, Monash University Medical Orchestra and orchestras for Melbourne Youth Music. He founded the Melbourne-based, professional chamber orchestra, La Fraternita di Solisti and was their Artistic Director for five years.
With an interest in choral music, Mr Cseszko has also conducted the Box Hill Chorale, the Ballarat Choral Society, the Monash Chorale, Southeastern Philharmonia choir, Peninsula Chorale and the Maroondah singers. He studied with Professor John Hopkins OBE, Carl Crossin, Nicholas Braithwaite.
In accepting the appointment, Jules described his high expectations for the Orchestra. “I feel privileged to conduct the Ballarat Symphony, and am keen to see it develop to be the region’s flagship ensemble, as well as a significant regional attraction, integral to the cultural life of Ballarat” he said.
